The Winner of 2nd Tamudhee London Inter Samaj Dance Competition 2010

The 2nd Inter Samaj Cultural Dance competition held at Leisure Centre Harrow Wealsdon on Sat, 22nd May 2010 organised by TDL.The winner is not other than Gorkha Zilla Gurung Samaj UK among seven competitors.The participants from GorZGS were looking gorgeous, beutiful in typical cultural Jora dresses and presented on the stage.The performance led by introduction and followed by group Dance of Seven members including Lahure Dai.

The performance commenced with the introduction of the song with the integration of culture mostly popular in the five district of Nepal(Gandaki Zone) where dense Gurung(Tamu) residence. In the mean time, four chairs were placed at the corner of the stage. As soon as the introduction completed about half of dozen of Mukhia(Bir Bdr) and team entered on the stage including Lahure dai (Subash), and others with mada and damphus. The Lahure Dai(Subash) who was returning from Lahur-Malaya; being welcomed by Chelibeti, family and villagers.

The title of the Jhora Song was Ayo Maina, Gayo Maina, which was also danced by same team members in the Lhosar 2010 and claimed to be the best. In the background Mukhia's team supported to dance team with chairing non-stop.

The presented audiences were entertained by viewing the performances were in the tune and supported with clapping with joy and moving their body in motion of the song.

Lahure dai's (Subash) frequent entry with cheli beti in dance routine was - red juicy cherry on the cake. At the end of the show, Mukhia (Bir)presented Gift (Nanglo ma chamal ra paisa) to the dancers(cheli Beti). Then show was concluded.

At the announcement of the result most of us had full of confident of winning the competition and the celebration and starting to bit the drum(khaichodi). When the result announce, all of us were overhelmed and joy by crying and dancing.Then the dance team leader Subash and members received a running Trophy and sum of cheque £500.

After some photo sessions, all the members of the samaj rallied the victory around the hall. It helped alot to build the image of the samaj to other samaj.


The performer team mebers were Anjita, Epina, Tara, Dipti, Tripti, Bipana and the team leader Subash for their out standing dedication.All the members of the samaj are overhelmed with this big achivement which was after the long hardwork, dedication and leadership of the samaj.Finally, we should not forget to protect this shield in the next year.

General Meeting on Sat 21st November 2009

Dear Members,
As you are aware that on 21 November, we carried out the final committee meeting of this year in Chilham Sport Centre. I was delighted to meet and greet the members who have turned up for the meeting. Total of 43 committee members and general members were enthusiastically attended the meeting. We have managed to discuss and eventually agreed in various important issues. It was nice to hear the voices of Amaa Samuha as well that have briefly swirled the minds of the committee. The minutes will be produced and circulated by acting secretary of the meeting, Rajkumar (Overall co-ordinator) in near future.

I would like to thank you all, specially Area representative of Folkston, Gautam for his excellent co-ordination for arranging venue and quality messing.

Established 2008, with the objective of welfare, social activities and creating Gurung Community in the UK, those have been come from Gorkha District, Nepal.

With the short period, this organisation had successfully completed two marriage ceremony and four ritual ceremony till the date. This prove that the organisation has been moving ahead on its objective.

In addition, women association has been actively involving in the problem solving of their members and join hands to the father organisation. Also, the youth have been taking part in the programme and helping the youth by youth in education which can be consider as an example in the society.

Hence, Gorkha Zilla Gurung Samaj UK is essential to protect the needs of its members and has been working with other similar social organisation with similar values.This organisation has branch on London, Hemshire, Kent and Colchester.
